One of the hardest things when dealing with the reality of death is being faced with the fact that you’ll never talk to your loved one again; that the words you want to say will never be heard.

But they can be written down and mailed.

Based in Los Angeles, Postal Service for the Dead encourages people to write down their grief, their love, their thoughts to a person (or people) they have lost and put it in the mail.

This is an ongoing project of Sleepy Sue Studio where senders have the option to let have their letters seen by the public, or to never be opened. It is hoped that writing these letters will help people along their healing journey.

To see those letters made public, visit their Instagram page @postalserviceforthedead
