Using the When You Die Trilogy for Groups

Did you know you need a license to screen our films to groups, in public and in educational settings?
Here is what you need to know!

The When You Die Trilogy was created for anyone interested in end-of-life, but the films are also a powerful tool in an educational or group setting to learn more about what might happen when we die physically and emotionally in a compassionate way that reduces fear. Using our films to generate curiosity and conversation is a great way to tackle the topic we so often avoided. Death and dying don’t need to be a taboo topic. In fact, talking about the inevitable can lessen our fear of death, and lead to a greater appreciation of life. People who use our films tell us they can evoke a sense of security and peace around the topic of death making it a less scary conversation. And it allows for a more open and thoughtful post screening conversation about death, dying, and personal lost.

We offer a variety of ways to showcase the films depending on your needs. Whether you’re looking for a one-time screening for your community, or showcasing the films multiple times for clients, families, or in educational settings, we want to collaborate with you!

Death and dying don’t need to be a taboo topic. In fact, talking about the inevitable can lessen our fear of death, and lead to a greater appreciation of life.

Some of the ways in which the films have been used include but are not limited to:

  • Lunch & Learn presentations
    • Using clips from the film relating to certain topics are a great way to add to any lunch & learn discussion.
    • Some key topics that are discussed in the films: death is a process, how to talk to someone who is dying, what is a good death? Living Funerals, the Hospice Effect, Near Death Experiences, Shared Death Experiences, does consciousness continue after death or is it lights out, changing family dynamics, and so much more.
  • Community film nights
    • Showing the film to your community at the library, a cafe, or an independent theatre is an excellent way to spark conversation and build awareness within your community.
  • Fundraising
    • Hosting an expo or festival about death? Why not generate buzz by hosting a screening, where proceeds can go towards the festival or a hospice fundraiser.
  • Hospice Staff and volunteer trainings
    • Using the film to help people understand how to talk about death openly and calmly.
  • Client and family bonding and information sessions
    • We work with many death doulas who use the films to help families in discussing their wants and wishes.
  • Class work
    • The films have been used in courses for Nursing, Thanatology, Social Work and more.
  • Death Talks
    • Death Cafes, Threshold Choir groups, Comfort Teas. These are all great ways in which the films can be shown with a discussion afterwards.
